We are awash in bad decisions, foolish choices, and wrong judgments. We are badly divided along many fault lines (where it’s always somebody
else’s fault, of course). Our morality is in decline; our institutions are captive to fleeting and flimsy worldviews; our economy is more tenuous than stable; and it seems, to remember Yeats, that the best of us lack all conviction, while the worst of us are filled with passionate intensity.
We continue making bad decisions. But how are we supposed to learn to make good ones?
That’s where we come in, we who believe in Jesus and are resolved to live by His Word. Jesus has appointed us to judge the world, to rescue the world from the depths of its wrong beliefs and decisions and show our neighbors a better way to choose, decide, act, and live—in short, to judge.
